The Town Hall is located in the heart of historic downtown Wake Forest, NC. The facility is roughly 44,000 square feet of floor space and houses all of the town’s departments. The Town Hall held its grand opening in the fall of 2010.
Since its grand opening, the facility experienced widespread water intrusion throughout, causing aggravation and unnecessary disturbances to the employees and hardworking citizens of NC. The Town of Wake Forest sought out Stafford Consulting Engineers, a Terracon Company, and EDS to provide an invasive investigation in order to identify the cause of the water intrusion. It was discovered that the main reason for the water intrusion was due to initial construction deficiencies in the through-wall flashings, sealants, below grade waterproofing, store front window assemblies, curtain wall components, roof flashings, and scuppers.
EDS began repairing the building’s envelope in the Fall of 2013 and completed in the Spring of 2014. The project encompassed continual coordination on a day-to-day basis between the Town of Wake Forest and local law enforcement. The facility remained open throughout the duration of the project with little to no disturbances to the occupants and visitors.
