In 2006, Exterior Diagnostic Services was selected to investigate numerous recurring leaks in the Progress Energy I building in downtown Raleigh.
EDS' expert technicians used swing stages and boatswains chairs to thoroughly inspect all elevations of the building's exterior. They discovered widespread sealant failure on all elevations of the building. EDS presented Progress Energy with a detailed report documenting their findings and recommended repairs.
Building management immediately sought bids to completely waterproof the exterior of the building. As a testament to the high-quality service they routinely provide to their customers, EDS was awarded the project.
Our team replaced the existing urethane sealants with a high-performance silicone sealant and applied a new silicone elastomeric coating. These repairs restored the Progress Energy I building to its initial structural integrity, ensuring its continued presence as one of the hallmarks of the Raleigh skyline.
